About Us

Throughout the year Hillel works to bring cultural, religious, artistic and community service activities by having weekly general assemblies, special events and transportation to Temple Beth El in Dunkirk for high holy days.  We are also involved with Community Service on campus.  Everyone (students, faculty, and community members) is welcome to all meetings, events and occasions.  For more details, read the sections below!

General Body Meetings

General Body Meetings, or "GBs" for short, is the term to describe the scheduled date, time, and location members of an organization meet.  Hillel will soon have a scheduled list of when to meet at the beginning of each semester.

Hillel's general body meetings often consist of a topic to talk about, an activity to do, or a holiday to celebrate.  All students are welcome to attend any of our GBs to participate and/or learn what we are doing.

Special Events

Hillel sponsors and co-sponsors a number of events during the academic year celebrating Jewish culture, holidays, etc.  Every year SUNY Fredonia recognizes the month of April as Jewish History month where we host the most events.

High Holy Days

Hillel provides transportation for those who wish to observe Jews high holy days at Temple Beth El, a Conservative Jewish synagogue in Dunkirk, NY.  It is only an 8 minute drive away.  Announcements for such occasions will be given by Hillel.

(People from all Jewish sects and denominations, as well as people not of the Jewish faith, are all welcome to visit Temple Beth El for the Jewish high holy days.)
